Let's talk LIES

So here I go off on one of my ramblings. In the last few days I have been asked about lies or more so LYING.  We all know it's wrong. I mean it's even one of the 10 Commandments, right? But why then do people feel the need to lie? Why do they feel the need to ask people to lie for them?  It is beyond me. I mean I am talking about people you would never think about asking you to tell a lie for them.

What exactly is a lie? Webster's defines it as, to make an untrue statement with intent to deceive

Let's face it, lying will get you no where. It only leads to more lies. Then the more you lie, the more you have to invent more lies to cover the ones you already have.

I wish those that lie had the same condition that Pinocchio had. That their nose grew every time they spoke a lie.  That would be one way to find out if you was being lied to.

Why??? I mean really is it too hard to tell the truth?  Admit your wrong doings without deceiving others.  I am not saying that I have never lied, of course I have. But as a adult and one that tries hard to be the very Christian that God would have me be, tries very hard to always tell the truth. I have been told by a few that if you don't want the truth, don't ask Peggy. Truth is hard to hear sometimes. It hurts others, but it can also help.

Try harder to tell the truth no matter what the outcome. Your only deceiving yourself more than you are anyone else. It doesn't help in any way, because the truth always comes out in the wash.

MY BIG OL' RANT FOR TODAY. Feel free to add anything that may be a help for someone struggling with this in the comments below.

What the Bible says::::Issue 7

Hello all. So it's been a few days since my last post. I need to remind myself not to post when a little bit upset about a certain situation, but if I can't scream at the person and can't shake some sense in them, then what am I to do? Blog about it without calling names. That is what I can do. It helps to clear my mind when I write. Now on to today's subject.

Colossians 1:23 says If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;

There are 4 things here that I see in this verse. They are the conditions of the blessings that deal with verse 22 of Colossians Chap. 1. You see in verse 22 He was in the flesh and took atonement for our fallen manhood. He took on our true manhood and died a death meant for us. He in his manly flesh and not his spiritual body took on our sins. So that He could present us as holy in front of God his father. We are made perfect in Christ, in God's sight.

Back to the blessings. Verse 23 states.
  • Continue in the faith.
If we continue in faith and not falter and stay grounded in it we would be presented unblameable to God.  We have to continue to lead a life of a Christian. Not just read the gospel but live it to.

  • Continue grounded in the faith
We as Christians need to stand on a firm foundation. As stated in Ephesians 3:17

  • Continue settled in the faith
The Greek word hedraios is used in this verse and means sitting, seated; steadfast, firm. So in other words we need to be firm like a foundation that is built upon a rock. Strong and not able to be moved by man. Resting on the eternal truth of the gospel. We are to go on believing. True saving faith is that you keep on believing and keep the same belief that you had to begin with in Christ.

  • Be not moved away from hope
Not be moved away from our hope by sin. Do not let the allure of sin take us away from our hope. Sin can carry you farther than you want to go. Do not be a temporary believer. Coming and going from your faith allows sin to creep in. Anchor yourselves to that which has the promises of eternal life.

If you stand strong and hold to your faith, be grounded and settled, and be not moved, you will find the blessings of eternal life in HIM. You have eternal life because Christ is in you 1 John 5:11

Romans 11:28,,, God's gifts are without repentance.

One of my PET PEEVES

You can't walk with God. Say your a Christian. Then say something that Jesus would have never said about a certain race or group of people.  That is not how it works.

Jesus even supped with sinner. Jesus talked to the Samaritans .

So don't tell me your a Christian when you call ugly names or put whole races down. How can you be a Christian and not have the Love of Christ in you? The greatest commandments was TO LOVE THY NEIGHBOR AS THYSELF.  It's not rocket science. Or is it talking about your relation brother. It's talking about people around you. ALL PEOPLE!!

(I am NOT talking about our president either.)

People seem to amaze me when they speak about God and then say something totally inappropriate right after. This is one of many PET PEEVES!!!!!

Through the Changes of Life

So this morning as I was going though the normal routine of a Friday morning, a thought came to me. It was the thought about how much things have changed in my life and the things that God has helped me to change. You know I make references all the time to friends and family about how God has turned me around and took certain things away from me and how He helps me to hold my tongue.  I came to realize there are several things that have changed.

I know that passage in Ecclesiastes 3 that tells  of all the seasons that people go through.  There is a time for everything.  It's all there. Read it for yourself.

But back to what I am talking about.

Just the other day I was asked about a certain movie. If I had ever seen it. This particular movie was a horror movie. Now since living the life of a Christian and especially being more conscience of what I partake of, I told the person that I hadn't watched that movie, nor did I have the desire to watch that movie, and it wasn't allowed to be played in my home.  Now it's hard for some to understand what I am talking about.

They may ask " What do you mean you can't watch this?", "What is wrong with watching a movie?"

Well this is something that the Lord has changed in me. This is one of the changes that I have went through. There are certain things I do not watch anymore. There is certain music I don't listen to anymore.  My way of dressing has became more modest. My speech changed many, many years ago. I use to be into horror movies and novels, or listen to Rap, Rock, Country or R&B music.  But not anymore.

You see when God started molding me and changing me, most of what I thought was okay to entertain  was not okay is not okay.  What you entertain will grow and bloom and if its not the right things, if its not what God had planned for you, if you entertain in more than godly things, well you see were I am headed with this.

God changed my palate.

The things I use to watch,  read or even listen to, I have no desire for.  I have went through many seasons in my life with just the changes I have made in how the things I use to do are not there anymore. I have grown in the love for the Lord.  I see the benefits of worshiping Him and trying to keep myself a clean vessel. Its hard, i'm human, but it can be done.
Romans 12:2 - And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

That verse tells me to not conform. God renewed my mind. I no longer want to see all the bad things that the world puts out there. I no longer want to hear the worldly music or read someones perverted or twisted stories. Once you put a image in or a song in there is no turning back.  Its there for good.  It can not be unseen or unheard.  And we wonder why some people do the things they do.

For instance...You watch porn, and you continue to grow in that way, now all you can see are those images and you think a normal relationship is supposed to be like that. You now think that women or men are supposed to be just like what you seen.
Then when you have a relationship, and you find out that a true, honest and godly relationship is not that way. Now you cannot un-see the images of what you put into your mind and it destroys your relationship, because you allowed it to flurish.
Only God can bring you out of a situation like that.

You see I had conformed before I started living for God. I was saved, YES. But I didn't live fully for God and thought that I could put into my mind whatever I wanted, I could read whatever I wanted, I could listen to whatever I wanted and I would still be okay. Now that I live for Him, I see that there is no way I want to go back. I give Him all the glory for my life and the worldly things he has taken away from me.

If you have problems with giving up worldly things even though you may be saved, let God in fully. Until you give up that you can have the best of both worlds, nothing you do is going to work. Only God can help. He did me. People may not understand my change, but at least I know a God that does. I am not saying that I don't hear or see it, because its all around me. I just don't go out of my way anymore to seek it.

(It's kinda like when I smoked cigarettes, I bought them every day I fed that issue therefore allowing it to grow from a few a day to a whole pack a day. Now that I don't smoke, (almost 8 yrs clean) I see them in the store, but I won't allow myself to buy them.)

That is God giving me the strength to continue to say no to something that is not of Him. I don't allow certain things in my house anymore, I don't entertain it anymore, so therefore it has not way to grow. What you sow you will reap. No matter what. That is just life. And what you bring into your home will grow.  Take the bad away and put in some good. I am sure you will feel much better.

May this be a blessing to someone that may be struggling with letting go of things they shouldn't be doing. I pray it encourages you to give in to God and let go of the worldly things.

What the Bible says::: Issue 6

Sorry for the delay in writing. As I have said before it just comes in spurts. Life situations or things that the Lord lays on me is usually where the story begins.

So the Lord has put 2 things on my heart to write about.  One of those is easy and can be written about with out much study. The other,, WELL, let's just say it will take me a few days of studying to actually get out what He has for me to see.

But on to my ramblings.

We have all heard that saying " God will never put more on you than you can bear".  Is that a biblical statement? And if so,,where is it located in the bible?

The Answer.

Well it's kind of not in the bible but it kind of is in the bible.

The bible actually says and this is where that quote above sort of originated from.  1 Corinthians 10:13 - There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God [is] faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear [it].

The quote above leads us to think that the hardships and trials of this life will be bearable to us. It is misleading. The verse is dealing with the temptations of life and how we are living. When we are faced with temptation, and we all are, it is how we deal with the consequences of that temptation that matter. We can either choose the temptation or we can see ahead the consequences and choose not to go that way. God gives us a choice. God is faithful, he is understanding and gives us the choice to always choose the right thing to do. God is standing there and giving us the way out if we take it. He is that little voice we hear that says the things that are hard to hear at times, but know is right. We must resist sin at all cost. Temptations are sins. So you see He makes a way. That verse tells us that we can escape the temptation so that we may be able to bear it.

Where in the bible does it tell us that our trials will not be beyond bearing? Is there any verses that supports this? Yes there are several promises that God had given us to support that statement.  For instance

Exodus 14:14 - The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.

Joshua 1:9 - Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God [is] with thee whithersoever thou goest.

If you have God in your life, He tells us that he is standing with us, He is fighting the fight for us, where ever we go He is with us, we are never alone.

Here is another that tells us our trials are not just ours to bear, but the burden has been lifted and will be easier with his help.

Isaiah 43: 2  When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

What a grand thought to know that no mater what may come upon us HE is always there to catch us and keep us safe.

Out temptations, and our trials are both handled. I am thankful for that little voice I hear when being tempted that tells me to turn and not make the wrong decision. I am thankful that when I feel as though the world is upon me that I don't have to travel alone. I am glad that I know who stands in the gap for me. Trails come and they go, but there is one that is faithful to us all and will never leave us.  Let temptation's come, because I know that no matter what, that temptation will be able to be escaped, He says he "WILL" with the temptation make a way escape so that it can be bared.  Just knowing this satisfies my soul.

May God be with you in all that you do. May He keep you from temptation and may He bring you through every trial because you are not alone.

Sound in, let me know what your thoughts are.
