To agree with Phil or NOT? My Soapbox.

In today's society we find all kind of things that are acceptable, and thing that are not. This morning as I was checking my Facebook news feeds all I am seeing is Support Phil Robertson, him being suspended from the A&E Channel has caused a big uproar. I myself have watched Duck Dynasty, and really do enjoy the show. Alot of people still need to realized alot of it is made up for the show and not real. MY OPINION! But back to my SOAPBOX!

When did it become alright to not call sin, a sin?

In his interview article with GQ Magazine Phil makes a statement “Everything is blurred on what’s right and what’s wrong,” he says. “Sin becomes fine.” then the interviewer asks What, in your mind, is sinful? where Phil responds “Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men,” he says. Then he paraphrases Corinthians: “Don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers—they won’t inherit the kingdom of God. Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right.” Further on down in the the interview Phil states “We never, ever judge someone on who’s going to heaven, hell. That’s the Almighty’s job. We just love ’em, give ’em the good news about Jesus—whether they’re homosexuals, drunks, terrorists. We let God sort ’em out later, you see what I’m saying?”

Yes he called homosexuality a sin, as the Bible that he believes in also calls it. But he also went on to say that he is never to judge anyone, as his Bible also says.

People are so quick to jump on the band-wagon they only read what they want to read. As for the A&E Channel they said in their comments where they stand in LGBT community, "His personal views in no way reflect those of A&E Networks, who have always been strong supporters and champions of the LGBT community. The network has placed Phil under hiatus from filming indefinitely." Enough said. As for the Robertson's I feel they should have done a little more research into what broadcasting channel they was getting into business with, and what that channels beliefs were, or where their support lies. MY OPINION! But still, A&E really had no right to suspend him from the show for saying his beliefs in a interview that had nothing to do with them, there is still a thing called freedom of speech.

Back to When did it become alright to not call sin, a sin?

Our moral standards in the world have been deteriorating since before I was born.

In the 1860’s, society’s view of homosexuals changed from the person being a sinner to them being a ‘social deviant’ or ‘pervert.’

In 1895 Oscar Wilde was charged and tried for sodomy and indecent behaviour. Wilde was convicted and sentenced to two years in prison and hard labour. He died penniless in 1900.

1960’s and 1970’s homosexuality was considered both a criminal act and a mental disorder.

1962 Illinois repeals its sodomy laws, becoming the first U.S. state to decriminalize homosexuality.

1980 was the start of the spread of the illness which is now well known as AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome).
1982 Wisconsin becomes the first U.S. state to outlaw discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.

1992 Clinton, set up the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy for gays in the military.

1992 Homosexuality was removed from ICD-10 (international classification of diseases, 10th revision)

1996 In the case of Romer v. Evans, the United States Supreme Court decides that Colorado's 2nd amendment, denying gays and lesbians protections against discrimination, is unconstitutional, calling them "special rights."

2000 Vermont becomes the first state in the U.S. to legalize civil unions and registered partnerships between same-sex couples.

2003 In Lawrence v. Texas the U.S. Supreme Court rules that sodomy laws in the U.S. are unconstitutional.

2004 Massachusetts becomes the first state to legalize gay marriage. The court finds the prohibition of gay marriage unconstitutional because it denies dignity and equality of all individuals.
In the following six years, New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut, Iowa and Washington D.C. will follow suit.

2009 President Obama signs a Presidential Memorandum allowing same-sex partners of federal employees to receive certain benefits. The memorandum does not cover full health coverage.

Which brings us up to year 2013. Where we are at today. There are several countries that have voted for Gay marriage as alright. In 2013 England and Wales, Brazil, France, New Zealand, Uruguay, joined in with the several other countries that passed the laws in 2013, 2010, 2009, 2006, 2005, 2003, 2000.

Where is our moral going to? Biblical values are going out the door and it seems a new book is being written. Now days if we stand up for what we feel is right and stand against homosexuality, we are called racist, or bible thumpers.  There once was a time that belief in the bible ran strong, it was upheld. Not today. If we Christian's so much as speak ill toward a sin, we are the one that is wrong. I have homosexuals in my family. I am like Phil Robertson, I disagree biblically with them but, I am no judge and I am to love them no matter what. Do I believe a homosexual can go to heaven? Yes, I do, as long as they turn away from their sin and follow Christ's teaching. Even in the Judaism, Muslims, and Islamic religions rules against homosexuality are written in there teachings. Christians are not the only ones, however Christians seem to be the only ones that speak out more against it.

So when did it become alright to stop calling sin a sin?   It started years ago, way before I came along.  It started with a yes to one sin and continued from there. Can we change it? Probably not. Look how many years has came and went to get to where we are in the world today. It didn't start in the 1800's it started even further back than that.  Its just the older the world gets, the easier it gets to say yes to things we know is wrong.  We live in a world of GIVE IN, EVERYONE ELSE IS DOING IT!! In MY OPINION, Phil Robertson, didn't say anything wrong, but what the world views and A&E views, is another story.
