Satan, Destructor of Lives

(1 Peter 5:8-9)

(8) Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: (9) Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in you brethern that are in the world.

Ever wondered why things happen to you in the most enjoyable times of your life?  In just this past month we have had things to seem like they are just falling down around us.  See Satan likes to try and get in by any means necessary.  He will send in a path of destruction to try and get your focus off the Lord.  We have had sickness come in, people trying my patience and temperament, works for that could have gotten done.  I haven't been to a Sunday service for two Sunday's now. Satan knew that I was excited to be going to the baptism at church, and used this opportunity of sickness to stop me.  Since my husband announced his calling to preach the Word, we have been going through some trials.  Not hard ones but little ones that if we let it could destroy what the Lord wants for us.

We have to be on top of what Satan is trying to do to us.  We need not let him take hold.  So what do we need to do when Satan tries to take over our lives?

(Luke 21:19) In your patience possess ye your souls.

This verse tells us we how we are to deal with Satan's attacks to us. We are to be patient , since God is the one allowing theses things to happen to us and for a reason. Those reasons always show when the time is right.  God never does anything for no reason.

(1 Pet 4:12) Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:

We see that we will have these trials and that we will be tried.  We will be pushed and prodded to the point that our spiritual faith will be under a close watch from those around us.  Satan can not attack our Spirit, but he can destroy our flesh, in hopes that he will push us to the point that we are not Sober in our spirit anymore.  We need to mentally keep our minds in the mist of our trials.

Satan is very persistent in wanting to destroy us. Just as with Job he keep right on taking and pushing him to deny God and die.  He didn't stay away when the angels came before God. He strolled right up there with them. (Job 2:1) Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the LORD.  He wants God to see that he is successful in turning us from HIM.  Sometimes you will feel like around every corner you are coming up against trials in your life, but remember we shouldn't stray from the straight path that God has prepared for us.

So called Christians will kick each other when others are down. They will make light of your trials and mock you, they will try to use your trial for their gain, lie about you and spread horrible gossip.  But you as a Christian must  (Psa 55:22) Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.  Let God be your strength.  Cut off all these so called Christians in their path (Prov 26:20) Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth.

So you see that if Satan is trying to destroy your lives and he is persistent about it too. We have a responsibility to know when it is Satan, and stop him at his game. We need to say  " Get the hence, Satan" (Matt. 4:10) Don't let Satan have the pleasure of destroying your life, don't give him that satisfaction.

We must put on the armors that God gives us to stand against Satan. Truth, righteousness, gospel proclamation, faith, salvation, scripture and prayer.  (Eph 6:13) Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

My prayer today is that this will be of help to someone that has got Satan fighting against you. May it be a blessing and bring you peace.
