2 Timothy 1:5 When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.
Do you have a Christian grandmother and mother? Mothers have a lot of influence with their children, as do grandmothers in some cases. Timothy's grandmother and mother had a big impression on him as he remembers them in their faith. They raised a godly man, by showing their faith and teaching him the scriptures.
Mothers if you want your children to grow in their faith you must walk in faith in front of them. They must see you being faithful and walking as a Christian. We must teach them to behave by our examples, not the worlds.
One of the reasons that I homeschool is because the bible tells me in Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Its the same with showing your children to be a Christian. Train them. Let your word stand, don't tell them one thing and do another. One of today's problems is when a mother speaks she doesn't follow through. For example, You tell your child, who is being unruly that there are consequences for their actions, and you tell them again and again, never following though with that consequence, you have just shown them they can get away with anything. You have to let your child know your no's are no's and your yes means yes. Follow through. Proverbs 22:15 Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.
A mother must be careful with how she handles the consequences in her life if she is to teach her children how to be a Christian. Mothers are always being looked at by the world. What you do and how you train your child is always up on the chopping block. You are responsible eternally for your child's training. Show them the kind of virtues you would want them to have. Mothers should want to do what God's will is for her family. Her love for God should show and be evident in her walk. She should only be what God wants her to be, not what the world wants her to be. We could all take lessons from Eunice and Lois, Timothy's mother and grandmother, we also have a lot to learn from King Lemuel's mother in the Proverbs 31.
Are you raising your children to be godly Christian's? Are you walking in your faith daily and showing them the right ways to handle situations? Will your children be proud and be in remembrance of you as Timothy and King Lemuel does?
Mothers if you want your children to grow and become faithful Christians, they need to see that your being a faithful Christian and your faithfully following Christ.
